Helping the bees

Wildflowers are naturally slow to germinate, and as such, loosely scattered seed can often be eaten by ants, birds and mice. We’ve helped to solve this problem by encasing the seed in a protective ball of clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder.

A barrier of dried outer clay means that the seed is inaccessible to predators, and once sufficient water permeates the clay, the seeds inside will begin to germinate – helped along by the nutrients and minerals contained within the ball. The chilli powder continues to deter slugs and snails while the seed ball slowly degrades and the seeds sprout.

How to brand your matchbox

Our branded matchboxes are a UK made, eco and bee friendly promotional item made from 100% recycled cardboard. A 51x51mm print area covers the top of the box and one side panel. Each box contains 6 wildflower seed balls – coverage for 2-3 post.  With a minimum order quantity of only 50 pieces and quick lead times (5-7 working days for orders up to 1000 units).

We include an unbranded folded card with basic information on how to use the balls within every box.

Seed mix

Each ball contains a mix of 30 UK grown pollinator-friendly wildflower seeds for growing in garden beds, balcony pots and window boxes. To use, simply scatter on top of soil or compost and water well.
